Online Therapy in Texas
Finding quality mental health support in Texas shouldn't be a barrier — but for a lot of people, it still is. Long drives to the nearest therapist's office, waitlists that stretch for months, and schedules that simply don't leave room for in-person appointments keep too many Texans from getting the help they need. Online therapy changes that.
Bloom Within Counseling is a private practice offering secure, professional online therapy to teens and adults throughout Texas. Sessions happen entirely via telehealth — no commute, no waiting room, no geographic limits. Whether you're in a rural community with few local options or a busy city where flexibility matters, online therapy gives you access to real, effective mental health care on your terms.
Why Online Therapy Works
There’s a common misconception that online therapy is somehow less effective than sitting in an office. The research says otherwise. Studies published by the American Psychological Association consistently show that teletherapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and other common mental health concerns.
For many people, online therapy is actually the better option. It removes the commute. It allows you to show up from wherever you’re most comfortable — your home, your car during a lunch break, a quiet room after work. It eliminates the visibility concern that keeps a lot of people away from therapy entirely, especially in smaller communities where seeing a familiar car in a therapist’s parking lot feels like a risk.
All sessions at Bloom Within Counseling are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. No app downloads required. You receive a private link before each appointment and join from wherever works best for you.
Who We Work With
Bloom Within Counseling serves two primary groups: adolescents/teens and adults across Texas. I work with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression and burnout
- Trauma and PTSD
- Grief and loss
- Stress and major life transitions
- Teen mental health concerns
- Faith-based and spiritually integrated support (optional)
Bloom Within Counseling is a private practice, which means you’ll work directly with me—not a staffing agency, a large platform, or a randomly assigned provider. You’ll have one therapist who gets to know you and supports you throughout your care.
Meet Melanie Burns, LPC - Associate
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate | Supervised by April West, LPC-S
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of April West, LPC-S. I founded Bloom Within Counseling on a straightforward belief: where you live in Texas shouldn’t determine whether you can access quality mental health care.
I have more than 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families. My clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed care, and I incorporate Somatic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy to tailor our work to your individual needs, experiences, and goals.
My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. Sessions aren’t just a space to process — they’re a space to understand what’s happening, build practical skills, and make meaningful progress. We’ll work at a pace that feels right for you while staying focused on the goals that brought you to therapy.
Specialized Training &Credentials
Licensure
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate) in the State of Texas, supervised by April West, LPC-S.
Specialized Training
Somatic Therapy — a body-based approach that helps address the physical and emotional responses connected to trauma, anxiety, and chronic stress.
Therapeutic Modalities
I draw from several evidence-based frameworks to tailor care to each client's needs:
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) —
EFT helps you understand emotions, identify underlying needs, and build healthier patterns of connection and communication. - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Identifying and shifting thought patterns that keep you stuck
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills
- Narrative Therapy — Examining the stories we tell about ourselves and rewriting the ones that no longer serve us
Patients Love Bloom Within
While every patient is different and comes with different needs, Bloom Within works to create the perfect plan for you and your needs.
